You will study automotive safety, systems and repair, including vehicle lifts, brakes, hydraulics and diagnostics.
This course combines online theory with an in-person work placement where you will get hands-on learning opportunities to practice some of these concepts you've learned.
Sask DLC coordinates the work placement at a local dealership.
You will learn automotive safety procedures and equipment, handling hazardous materials, vehicle lifting techniques, brake systems and hydraulics and using service information for diagnostics and repairs. You may also explore advanced topics like anti-lock brakes, wheel bearings, suspension, steering systems and wheel alignment for further specialization.
The course consists of:
50 hours of online theory
40 to 50 hours of practical, hands-on work placement coordinated by Sask DLC at a local dealership
optional one-day learning camp at Saskatchewan Polytechnic which will count towards your 50 hours of work placement. If you choose not to attend the learning camp, all 50 hours can be completed at the work placement.
Work placements provide you the opportunity to experience the newest technology, tools and expertise being used in the industry while exploring if this trade career might be right for you. This is only possible with the support of our partner, the Saskatchewan Automotive Dealer's Association.
All students, parents and mentors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with our work placement information.
We will do our best to find a local work placement; however, we may not be able to accommodate placements in all situations, and/or some travel may be required.

My work placement at Pineridge Ford was a positive and rewarding one that ultimately led to a summer job offer.
