What Will I Learn?

You will learn about the various systems found in agriculture equipment and the tools and materials used in its maintenance, with a focus on safety. This includes learning about combustion engines and drivetrains, hydraulic and pneumatic power and electrical fundamentals.

You will gain practical, hands-on experience in equipment maintenance and diagnosing and repairing common problems. You will explore emerging technology trends in precision agriculture and get hands-on experience while learning about the opportunities that exist in this in-demand career.

This course consists of:

  • 50 hours of online theory to be completed from September to mid-November

  • 50 hours of work placement which consists of:

    • 44-50 hours of a work placement at a local ag equipment dealership to be completed from mid-November to the end of the semester. Sask DLC will coordinate the work placement.

    • 6 hours of AET Learning Camp at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon (optional).

    • If you choose not to attend the learning camp, you simply complete all 50 hours at the work placement.

Given the seasonal nature of the ag industry, this course is only offered in Semester 1.

Work placements provide students an opportunity to see if a trade might be right for them. This is only possible with the support of our partners, the North American Equipment Dealers Association and Canada Equipment Dealers Foundation.

All students, parents and mentors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with our work placement policy.

We will do our best to find a local work placement; however, we may not be able to accommodate placements in all situations, and/or some travel may be required.
Travel is at the student’s expense. If you have questions about work placements or Sask DLC courses, email helpdesk@saskDLC.ca or call our main office at 306-252-1000.
